How to Anchor a Curtain Rod Into a Concrete Board

Anchoring curtain rods to cement can seem like a daunting task. You're probably reconsidering hanging curtains there at all. However, with the right tools, the task is almost as easy as hanging rods on any other surface. Rather than using the standard screws or nails that come with the curtain rod, use concrete screws so you can anchor the hardware to the cement surface.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the curtain rod up to the concrete. Adjust the rod until it's in the desired position.

    • 2

Insert a pencil into the holes in the curtain rod hardware. Draw marks on the concrete board to show where the holes should be drilled on both ends of the rod. Set the rods and hardware aside.

    • 3

Insert a masonry bit into the drill. Use a bit that's the same diameter or slightly smaller than the screws. Using a bit that's too large will result in a hole that's too big for the screws.

    • 4

Hold the tool steady and drill holes at each pencil mark. Make the holes as deep or slightly deeper than the screws you'll be using.

    • 5

Blow on the holes to remove the dust.

    • 6

Take the masonry bit off the drill and replace it with a Philips-head bit. Insert the screw through the first hole on the rod hardware and hold it up to the pre-drilled hole in the concrete. Use the drill to anchor the hardware to the wall.

    • 7

Repeat the process for each hole in the curtain rod hardware. Move to the other end of the rod and anchor the hardware to the concrete using the same method.
