How to Decorate a Door With a Harry Potter Theme

Tear 3-inch-long pieces of double-sided tape, and adhere the tape around the edge of the door you are decorating. Space each piece of double-sided tape apart by 3 inches.

Lay a large sheet of crepe paper over the front of the door, overlapping the paper over the edges of the door by 2 inches. Use burgundy-colored paper if you are making a Gryffindor door, blue for Ravenclaw, yellow for Hufflepuff or green for Slytherin. Smooth down the paper with your hands.

Trim around the back of the door with scissors to remove any excess crepe paper.

Place 3-inch-long strips of double-sided tape onto the center of the top edge of the door and onto the center of the bottom edge of the door. Apply enough tape to cover 12 inches along the edges of the door.

Drape a 12-inch-wide strip of crepe paper vertically down the center of the door, overhanging the paper over the taped edges. Use gold paper for Gryffindor, bronze for Ravenclaw, black for Hufflepuff or silver for Slytherin.

Trim off the excess paper on the back of the door using scissors.

Cut out a Harry Potter mascot from construction paper for the Hogwarts house door you are making. Cut out a lion for Gryffindor, an eagle for Ravenclaw, a badger for Hufflepuff or a serpent for Slytherin.

Tape the respective mascot onto the center of the door using double-sided tape to complete the Harry Potter door.
