How to Hang a Movie Screen Over a Large Window

Movie projector screens are a way to replace your TV for the ultimate home theater experience. However, you need a large space of wall to actually hang a movie screen for the proper effect. If you don’t have an extra 7 to 10 feet of wall space in your home, you can just hang the movie screen over a window instead. Mount a roll-up screen to the ceiling so you can put it up when it’s not in use.

Instructions

Measure away from your window by about 4 to 6 inches. Use a stud finder to locate the studs in your ceiling. Turn the stud finder on and it will locate the studs for you. Mark each stud location with a light pencil mark. Use a measuring tape to make sure the marks are in a straight line.

Drill a hole about 1 inch deep and half as wide as the width of the hooks into the ceiling studs. Repeat this process for all the studs in front of your window.

Screw the hooks into the holes in the ceiling. Use your fingers to screw in the hooks until they are flush against the ceiling.

Hang the movie screen onto the hooks, facing away from the window. Pull down on the screen to cover the window.
