How to Mount Shades on a Metal Frame

Installing shades is a simple window solution, whether it is to block out unwanted light or offer some much-needed privacy. Shades come in many different styles and varieties, of which almost all can easily be mounted to a metal frame. Some people prefer shades to curtains, as they can pulled up when desired, showing the window in full view. For those with asthma or allergies, shades can be much easier to keep clean, as they do not collect dust and allergens to the same extent as fabric curtains.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure 2 1/2 inches in from each upper corner of the window. Mark this spot with your pencil. This is where you will install each bracket.

    • 2

Line up each bracket with the pencil marks from Step 1. Make sure the brackets are lined up with the front edge of the window frame. Mark where the holes are in the bracket with a pencil.

    • 3

Pre-drill the marked holes from Step 2 using your drill. Screw the brackets into the metal window frame using the pre-drilled holes. Hook the shades onto the brackets to complete the mount.
