How to Stucco a Faux Brick Wall

Faux brick walls can make a room look more dynamic and interesting, but may not match the rest of your room's decor. Cover a faux brick wall with neutral-looking stucco that better matches a multitude of decor styles and colors. Although you can hire a professional craftsman to apply stucco over a faux brick wall, it can be costly. One solution is to apply stucco yourself using a few basic supplies and tools from any hardware store.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Sand the surface of the faux brick wall using a sanding buffer with a medium-grain sanding ring. This will remove any roughness or uneven texture.

    • 2

Vacuum the faux brick wall and surrounding area using a shop vacuum to remove any dust or debris caused by the sanding.

    • 3

Spread a 1-inch-thick layer of fine grout stucco onto the surface of the wall using a triangular trowel. Allow the trowel to create creases and indention marks as you apply the grout stucco.

    • 4

Allow the stucco wall to air dry for 12 to 18 hours.

    • 5

Spray a layer of latex wall sealant over the stucco wall, then allow the sealant to dry for 12 to 18 hours.
