Open the window awning package and take a quick inventory of the items inside. Compare each physical part you pull from the box with the manufacturer’s packaging information that came with it. If a part is missing, contact the manufacturer before proceeding.
Determine the correct height to install the mounting brackets above the window so that, when the awning is fully retracted, it can’t be seen through the window. Drill mounting holes and secure the brackets in place above the window with the screws that came in the window awning package. Depending on your specific awning kit, you may have 2 or more brackets to install.
Insert the pre-assembled awning into the bottom slot of each mounting bracket and snap it into place. You should hear a click when the awning has locked into place.
Center the awning above the window and tighten the screwsets with a correctly sized Allen wrench.
Attach each drop arm to the front bar of the awning. Determine the appropriate distance below the awning to mount the arm bearing by inserting the drop arms into the arm bearing and holding the arm bearing against the wall. Make chalk marks on the wall where the holes should be drilled.
Remove the drop arms from the front bar of the awning and set them aside.
Drill out the lower mounting point for the first arm bearing and loosely attach it with a screw. Tension the arm bearing, bringing the upper mounting point up against the wall so the tensioning spring of the arm is downward. Mark and drill the upper mounting point, and tighten both screws. Repeat with the second arm bearing.
Insert one drop arm into an installed arm bearing. Swing the arm up to the front bar of the awning and reinstall it. Tighten the bolt with a wrench to secure the arm in place. Repeat with the second drop arm.
Insert the removable hand crank into the side of the pre-assembled awning, and open and close the awning to ensure its functionality.
