How to Hang a Frame on a Cinder Block Wall

Cinder block walls lend an industrial, loft-like feel to a room. While this is an appealing vibe to some, these gray walls can be dull and depressing on their own. Whether you’re hanging frames for elaborate artwork or adding a simple embellishment in the form of a simple framed photograph, the hanging process is a simple one.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate a picture hook that will support the weight of the frame. Purchase the hook at a hardware store. Standard hooks can support a frame anywhere in the range of 10 to 100 pounds.

    • 2

Select a spot on the cinder block wall where your frame will go. Make a mark at the location with a pencil to indicate where the picture hook will be installed.

    • 3

Attach a masonry drill bit to your drill and form a hole at the pencil mark location, making sure it’s large enough to accommodate your picture hook with ease. Clean the hole with a wire brush to remove any debris.

    • 4

Fill the hole in the cinder block with epoxy, which bonds to the wall and holds the hook in place. Insert the picture hook into the hole as soon as it’s filled. Allow an overnight drying time before slipping the frame into place on the hook within the wall.
