How to Hang Jabots With a Cascade

When a window treatment includes a valance along the top edge, you have a variety of design options to create an attractive window. Jabots and cascades are two separate valance pieces that combine into a complete valance design. The jabots are fabric tails, hanging on each end of the valance and the cascade hangs in a series of cascading folds in the center between the two jabots. Hang jabots with a cascade to complete a window design.

Instructions

    • 1

Mark the placement for the double curtain rods at the top of the window. Mark the holes for the mounting plates needed to hang the rods using the ruler and pencil. The rod for the jabots (rod 2) is deeper and sits about 1 inch outside the rod for the cascade (rod 1).

    • 2

Drill pilot holes for the mounting plates. Install the mounting plates over the pilot holes using the screws included with the curtain rods.

    • 3

Slide the cascade onto rod 1 and push it along the rod until it sits at the center of the rod. Place this rod onto the inner mounting plates at the top of the window.

    • 4

Place the jabots onto rod 2, positioning the longer fabric edges at the outside of the rod and the shorter edges toward the center of the rod. Place this rod onto the mounting plates at the top of the window, over rod 1.

    • 5

Stand back and assess the jabots and cascade. The cascade should sit centered between the two jabots. The jabots should overlap in front of the cascade by an inch or two on each side. Arrange the three different valance pieces evenly on the rods.
