Lay down five 1 5/8-by-6-by-80-inch cherry boards, with their long, thin sides touching. Position three 1/2-by-4-by-28-inch cherry board perpendicularly across the other door boards. Drill two holes through the smaller boards and into the larger boards. Spread caulking between each board. Attach the boards together with 2-inch wood screws.
Position the door within the doorway and set the hinges between the door and the frames. Set each hinge about 1 foot from the top or bottom of the door. Mark the location of the hinge-screw holes. Remove the hinges. Drill out each hinge-screw hole. Attach the hinges to the frame using 2-inch wood screws, and to the door using 1-inch wood screws.
Position the doorknob along the other edge of the door from the hinges, about halfway up the door. Mark the position of the doorknob. Drill through the door at this position. Drill another hole through the edge of the door and into the first hole. Increase the size of the hole as needed to create a space large enough for the doorknob. Pass the main portion of the doorknob through the door. Slide the other, smaller latch section of the door knob through the edge of the door and into the first part of the doorknob.
Position the included faceplate along the frame where the door latch strikes the frame. Drill out the screw holes in the faceplate. Drill out the main latch area of the faceplate. Attach the faceplate to the frame with 2-inch wood screws.
