Open each tag, which is actually a small loop of fabric, along the top of the curtain. You can open them by pushing down on the top folded edge with the index finger of one hand while sticking the index and middle finger of the other through the loop.
Move your fingers around in each loop to loosen them up so they stay slightly open when you remove your fingers. This preps the curtain for installation on the rod, making that installation quicker and less frustrating by not forcing you to juggle a heavy, awkward curtain rod while trying to pry open the tags.
Take the curtain rod down from its holders. Feed the curtain rod through the center of each tag from one side of the curtain to the other. Hang the rod back up with the right side -- the side where the fold of the hems aren't seen -- facing the room.
Adjust the curtain on the rod to let in, or keep out, as much light as you like while also creating a pleasing appearance.
