How to Decorate Vases With Ribbon

A lovely vase can take a bunch of flowers from so-so to fabulous. One doesn't have to spend a lot of money to get a snazzy vase for a flower arrangement. Using ribbon and a glue gun, a plain Jane vase can be transformed in a manner of minutes. Keep a stock of clear glass vases on hand and seasonal satin ribbon to create holiday vases for any occasion. An inexpensive grocery store bunch of flowers later, you have a spectacular arrangement to use for a gift or a personal treat.

About 1 yard of 2-3-inch wide flat satin ribbon
Scissors
Glue gun
Tape measure
Clear or solid color glass vase
Water

Instructions

  Cut a 12-inch piece of 2-3-inch wide flat satin ribbon, and tie it into a bow.

  Trim the ends of the bow ribbon with the scissors, so that they are even with no jagged areas. Set the bow aside.

  Cut a piece of ribbon that will fit around the center of the vase with a 1-inch overlap.

  Place a line of glue with the glue gun around the center of the vase, and press the ribbon on it, smoothing it around the vase.

  Put a drop of glue under the 1-inch overlapping piece of ribbon, and press firmly.

  Place a drop of glue behind the bow, and stick it on top of the ribbon already glued to the vase, taking care to cover up the 1-inch overlapping piece of ribbon.

  Put your flowers and water into the vase.
