Centerpiece Arrangement Ideas

A centerpiece is a great way to add warmth and charm to any table. Though a centerpiece may seem like just an object on a table, it makes guests feel welcome. Each season presents the opportunity to create a new centerpiece; from a beautiful flower arrangement, a tasteful fruit basket and the bright colors of fall to a winter holiday theme. A centerpiece can be as simple as a single rose in a vase, or as elaborate as your creativity will allow.
  1. Flower Centerpieces

    • No matter the season, flowers make a great centerpiece.

Purchase a glass vase and create your own flower assortment. Choose neutral colors for your assortment and add interesting accents such as ferns. Artificial flowers are another option; they require no maintenance and are available in most flower and rose types. Vases are available in a wide assortment of colors and styles to match any decor. Another idea is to invest in a large, wide wine glass and fill it halfway full with water. Then purchase a single lily, cut the stem off and place it gently on the water to float.

    Candle Centerpieces

    • Candle centerpieces can create a soothing atmosphere.

Get a large glass vase that will fit a wide candle. Fill it half-full with glass beads and crushed glass. Decide whether you want to do layers or if you want to mix the two together. Once it is half-full, put the candle in the vase and ensure it sits flat. Following that, fill the vase around the candle with more glass. Make sure the candle's top is above all else. Another idea is floating candles. Fill a large glass bowl halfway with water. Place one or more floating candles into the water. Floating candles are available in a wide range of colors. Add food coloring to the water for a special touch.

    Spring and Summer Centerpieces

    • Real or fake, fruit centerpieces are always a popular choice.

Purchase fresh fruits or fake plastic fruit and put them into an appealing bowl. This can be see-through glass or wooden. Flower and nature assortments also work well for this season. Go out into your garden or a floral store and pick a few flowers, and arrange them creatively in a glass vase. You might also consider adding vines or ferns.

    Fall Centerpieces

    • The bright colors of fall will add cheer to any centerpiece.

Purchase small pumpkins and grapevines. Find twigs and leaves in bright yellow and red colors. Arrange them within a large wooden or glass bowl. Add to this idea by purchasing small miniature scarecrows. Mix these into the above idea, or make a new combination. For an added touch, place a few leaves on the outside of the bowl. Another idea is to buy a small to medium-sized pumpkin. Clean out the inside of the pumpkin and find a glass that will fit into the pumpkin. Using the glass as a vase, place a flower arrangement into the glass. Lean the pumpkin top against the side of the pumpkin, and you have a creative and unique centerpiece.

    Winter Centerpieces

    • Winter centerpieces make a table shout holiday cheer.

Enter the nearby nature and gather acorns, or purchase these from a store. Purchase a small red or green tin, no higher than 3 inches. Gather twigs and spray-paint them red, green, silver and gold. Take extra garland and arrange all the items into the tin. Another idea is to gather evergreen branches. Place the evergreen branches into a large wood or glass bowl. Arrange pine cones within the evergreen branches. A small artificial snowman adds a nice touch to this centerpiece.

    Wedding Centerpieces

    • Your imagination is the only limit when it comes to wedding centerpieces.

Wedding centerpieces do not have to be expensive. Take photos of you and your partner, and place them picture-side facing out in a glass vase with a candle. Another idea is to use a break-away centerpiece, using your wedding favors as the centerpiece. As a base, use a flat mirror. Arrange the favors on the mirror and place it in the center of the table. Floating candles are another centerpiece idea. Choose colored floating candles that match your wedding colors; place one or more candles in a glass half-full of water. Place sea shells or colored marbles in the bottom of the glass. A simple single flower or rose in a vase with a helium balloon attached also makes a festive wedding centerpiece.
