Ways of Arranging a Bouquet of Roses

Roses can be a perfect pick-me-up for a friend or loved one. They are used in weddings and graduations and given for Valentine's Day, birthdays and anniversaries. Roses can be used for celebrations, romance and in memory of loved ones. Creating a beautiful arrangement to display roses can help retain the memory they had behind them when they were given.
  1. Color

    • Pair same color tones together.

When arranging a beautiful bouquet of roses you first need to think about color. Vera Wang, through the online floral retailer FTD suggests three popular ways to arrange flowers by color. Use different shades of the same color to create a fresh modern bouquet. Design an arrangement of roses that use complimentary colors, such as red and white for a bold statement. Try putting similar color tones together, such as all warm colors or all cool shades for a harmonious bouquet.

    Shape

    • Shape bouquets according to your style.

Designing a bouquet allows the creation of the flowers in any shape chosen. The Knot, an online wedding information site, gives tips on how to design the perfect bouquet. "To better see what the bouquet will look like in your hand, stand in front of a mirror as you construct the bouquet to observe how the shape is progressing." According to Vera Wang, the four common shapes for arranging bouquets are: dome, straight, grouped or free. Each of these depend on personal style or the style of the person for whom they are being arranged.

    Vases

    • Use a vase for your arrangement.

Vases hold roses and provide them with water to keep them looking fresh and beautiful for a long f time. Select from many shapes and sizes of vases that determines how large or small a bouquet needs to be. Vases can hold single roses, or as many as you can put into a bouquet. Put flowers in a clear vase to show the stems or use a colored on to hide them. Some vases come in a fishbowl shape so that the entire stem of the rose can be cut off and the arrangement floated in a bowl of water.

    Size

    • Make sure the roses are proportional to the vase.

The Wedding Channel reminds us to, "never create a centerpiece that's taller than 12 inches." Guests will thank you for being able to see around the flowers so that they can converse with others at the same table. The size of the flowers also need to be proportional to the size of the vase. Vera Wang states, "A general rule of thumb is that the size of the vase should be one-half to one-third the size of the total arrangement."
