Artificial Flower Arrangement Gifts

While cut flowers are a visually appealing touch in a home, keeping them watered and fresh can require more time than you have to spend, and replacing the flowers as they wilt with new ones can be expensive. Substituting artificial flowers is a cost-effective and maintenance-free way to keep flowers in your home all year round. Since artificial flowers don't require water, you can arrange them in more creative and versatile ways.
  1. Beads

    • Select a theme--such as beach, earth tones, vibrant colors or a holiday--to tie your arrangement together. Fill a clear glass vase with beads or colorful gemstones. For a Christmas arrangement, red, white, green, silver or gold, or a combination, will work best for the beads or stones. For a beach or earthy color scheme, fitting colors will be golds, tans and blues. Purchase flowers to accent the theme. For a Christmas theme, use a silk or cloth poinsettia flower, and for a beach theme, a white flower like a daisy. This arrangement makes an ideal centerpiece gift or holiday decoration.

    Basket

    • Purchase a loosely spun basket that has a slightly open weave for a rustic-themed gift or accent. Ideal artificial flowers for this arrangement will have long, flexible stems. Weave the stems through the basket so that the flower heads rest on the outside of the basket. Use touches of glue from a hot-glue gun to keep the heads in place. Select robust flowers like roses, wildflowers or lilacs for the silk blooms. Fill the center of the basket with candles in a complementary color scheme, or with baked goods to create a country theme .

    Tray

    • Fill a tray or flat bowl with sand. Arrange seashore items like shells, starfish and small rocks and stones artfully in the sand. Choose exotic, silk island flowers, such as orchids or gingers and snip the heads from the stems. Place the flower blooms into the sand for a splash of tropical color. This will make an ideal housewarming gift for summer to complement a porch or foyer, or a fitting gift if you're visiting or using a friend's summer cottage.
