How to Repair Cracks on a Waterford Crystal Vase

Crystal vases are delicate accessories that are meant to be displayed and not often touched. If your Waterford crystal vase should crack, make the repair as quickly as possible so that the crack does not spread. You will need a number of materials that will make the repair less timely and also less expensive than bringing the vase to a professional.

Things You'll Need

  • Acetone
  • Soft cloth
  • Adhesive syringe kit (syringe, adhesive, plastic blister)
  • Scissors
  • Toothpick

Instructions

  1. Waterford Crystal Vase Repair

    • 1

Clean the damaged area of the vase with acetone and a soft cloth. Allow it to air-dry for a few minutes.

    • 2

Set up your syringe kit materials, and cut the tip off of the adhesive-filled syringe. The syringe will have two small nozzles that contain two different adhesive agents you will mix together.

    • 3

Lay the plastic blister on a flat surface, and then push the adhesives out of the syringe onto the blister. Make sure your amounts are equal.

    • 4

Mix the two adhesives with a toothpick until well combined, then carefully paint the combination into the crack on the vase using the fine, thin paintbrush.

    • 5

Quickly wipe off excess adhesive with the corner of a sponge, and then allow the repair to harden on its own. Do not touch the vase for a few days.
