Ideas for Vases

Vases are versatile and timeless decorations for any home. Though vases traditionally hold beautiful bouquets of flowers, that is not the only option. Whether it is for home or office use, a vase can be the perfect accent to bring a room together.
  1. Traditional

    • Use a vase traditionally, to hold a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Every day, florists create masterful arrangements of flowers and other ornamental plant material for decorations. You can display these anywhere: at home, in the workplace, at weddings and funerals, and at most upscale stores, doctor's offices and hotels. However, you do not have to be a professional to arrange a floral bouquet. Gather greens and flowers and use a vase you already have to brighten your home.

    Plant and Animal Habitat

    • Large glass vases with a ball shape at the base make perfect homes for a special fish called the betta. Simply buy a large glass vase, a betta fish and a small peace lily plant. Wash the vase and add fresh water about three-quarters of the way to the brim. Place the fish in the bowl and lay the peace lily on top of the water. The roots will float down into the water, providing oxygen and nutrients to the fish, however you should feed the fish once daily and clean the vase once a week.

    Non-living Items

    • Fill vases with marbles, shells or any number of small items.

Clear glass vases come in all shapes and sizes. Many of us have vases lying around from times we have been the recipients of a professional floral arrangement. You can fill these with any number of things for decoration, such as potpourri, beach shells, marbles, twigs, or candles. As the season changes and years pass, alter them to fit the occasion or changing tastes.

    Miscellaneous

    • Use vases in the bathroom to hold things such as cotton balls or swabs.

For use in a more practical way, try filling a short, wide vase with cotton balls, cotton swabs, toothpicks, bandages, buttons or bobby pins. This will help keep your essentials organized and looking decorative at the same time. Try using these types of vases in bathrooms, kitchens or baby's room.
