How to Make a Centerpiece Using Bubble Wrap, Glow Sticks and Water

Instead of plain, ordinary candles, you can create a custom centerpiece for any holiday celebration with little more than bubble wrap, glow sticks and a large vase of water. Red and green glow sticks will provide a festive choice for a Yuletide celebration, while red, white and blue glow sticks will give your table a patriotic glow on Independence Day. With the glow sticks in place, you can add your choice of small floating ornaments to the water to create your desired effect for the centerpiece.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a few lit glow sticks horizontally on the bottom of a vase. If the glow sticks are bendable, bend them to fit along the diameter of the vase and fit one inside of the other, as if you're creating the lines on a dart board.

    • 2

Lightly pack some bubble wrap over the glow sticks in the vase. The bubble wrap should cover the glow sticks enough so that only their light is visible from outside of the vase. Use as much bubble wrap as you want to achieve your desired effect.

    • 3

Fill the vase three-quarters full of water. If you want to add some floating ornaments to the water, such as flower petals or a bouquet of flowers, add them now. The light from the glow sticks will shine just enough to highlight the objects in the glass and create a memorable and elegant centerpiece.
