How to Arrange Large Bamboo Rods in a Floor Vase

Eco-friendly bamboo, a highly regarded symbol of good luck and energy in Asian cultures, grows abundantly in warm climates. Displaying bamboo enhances your living space's natural look and provides a means of introducing the wood element into a Feng Shui-inspired interior. While a traditional floor vase works as an effective display for these sturdy, hollow rods, the type of large vessel you use to display them in your home is limited only by your imagination.

Instructions

Set your floor vase in a corner or against a wall. Lanky bamboo rods wobble, and even though they might not be leaning directly against the wall, its presence adds extra support and keeps the display from tipping over if bumped.

    • 2

Place three or four bamboo rods in the floor vase for an unobtrusive display, especially if it has a narrow neck or mouth, allowing them to lean freely against the opening. Limiting the number of rods in this type of vase means that you can slide them in and out with ease, which helps when you need to replace the rods or move the vase to another spot in your living space.

    • 3

Fill a wide-mouthed vase with many bamboo rods but avoid over stuffing the vase. Place enough bamboo rods in the vase so that they support one another but leave enough space so they lean outward naturally. A floor vase filled with bamboo rods creates a striking, sturdy display suitable for a central location in a main room, such as a living room or formal dining room.

Place landscaping rocks of a manageable size in the bottom of your floor vase; these provide support if you wish to place only a few bamboo rods in a wide-mouthed vase. Position the rods between the rocks. Place additional rocks in the floor of the vase around the rods for support as needed. Alternatively, anchor the bamboo rods with rocks and fill the wide-mouthed vase up to the rim with polished stones or small pebbles.
