Laundry Room Stencil Ideas

Often stark white walls make up the bulk of the interior decorating of a laundry room; however, you can jazz up your laundry room with stencils. Stencils are not only easy to do, but they also make a statement without having to go over the top or spend a lot of money to create a new look. Stick with the white paint as a background or repaint your laundry room before you begin.
  1. Walls and Ceiling

    • A lot more decorative décor can happen on laundry room walls than most people think. With stencils, sometimes your pattern can seem restricted; an apple stencil, for example, will be an apple stencil every time, but with the right decision making, you can create more with less. Consider using multiple stencils to achieve one effect: for example, space out the apple stencils with a checkerboard-style border stencil between the fruits.

You can also pair up matches by selecting a theme for your laundry room, perhaps various birds, grapevine stencils, French mosaics, stencils of different garden items or even a series of botanical herbs or flowers. Even if your theme is based only on a specific color scheme, you can still stencil a variety of items as long as the colors remain consistent.

You can space the stencils of clothes hangers, shells or Colonial motifs all along the walls in a diagonal pattern, similar to wallpaper, or run a series of stencils to create the appearance of molding or a chair rail border. A classic looking medallion stencil can even work well centered on your laundry room ceiling, provided you have the space to apply one.

If you don't want to cover the walls completely or have to deal with stenciling every wall, one option is to work with alphabet stencils and apply a quote or multiple quotes along the walls. Often short quotes such as "Laundry Room: Drop Your Pants Here" or "Not Responsible for Lost Socks" can help create a cheerful mood in the laundry room.

    Furnishings

    • Although extra furnishings in a laundry room are not a necessity, it is often enjoyable, space permitting, to add extra décor. The décor you choose doesn't have to be bland, either. If you want to place a plant in the laundry room, try stenciling the outside of the flower pot. A simple cabinet that can hold your detergents can also be stenciled along the outer doors to enhance the theme you have chosen for the room. Or perhaps a small chair can fit nicely into an otherwise empty corner, the back of which can be stenciled with a simple fleur-de-lis or small stencil to add character.
