Instructions

  1. Painted Surfaces

    • 1

Place a drop cloth under the Instant Stencils wall art you want to remove. Wipe the wall with a soft cloth or rag to remove any dust and dirt from the wall.

    • 2

Shake a gallon of pre-mixed barrier coating, found at hardware and home improvement stores, gently from side to side. Use a screwdriver to open the container. Stir the barrier coating with a paint stirrer.

    • 3

Pour 2 cups of barrier coating into a paint tray. Wear latex gloves to keep your hands clean.

    • 4

Use a paint roller to apply the barrier coating over the Instant Stencils wall art. The barrier coating will smooth out the wall stencils so you can repaint the wall or apply another finish, if desired.

    • 5

Let the barrier coating dry according to the recommended time before applying paint or another finish to the wall.

    Non-Porous & Wood Surfaces

    • 6

Place a drop cloth under the non-porous or wood surface. Wipe the surface with a soft cloth or rag to remove any dust and dirt from the surface.

    • 7

Apply 1 tbsp. of baby oil or acetone-based fingernail polish remover to a soft cloth or rag. Wear latex gloves to keep your hands clean. Work in a well-ventilated area.

    • 8

Blot the non-porous surface with the baby oil- or fingernail polish-soaked cloth or rag. The stencil will bubble up from the surface. Slowly peel the stencil from the surface.

    • 9

Reapply baby oil or fingernail polish remover to the cloth or rag. Continue blotting and pulling the stencil until it is removed.

    • 10

Wipe the non-porous surface clean with paper towels.

    Plastic Surfaces

    • 11

Place a drop cloth under the plastic surface. Wipe the surface with a soft cloth or rag to remove any dust and dirt from the surface.

    • 12

Place a piece of duct tape over the Instant Stencil wall art.

    • 13

Apply pressure to the duct tape using your hands or wallpaper spreading tool for one to two minutes. Pull the dust tape from the plastic surface.

    • 14

Repeat Steps 2 through 3, if fragments of the stencil remains.

    • 15

Wet a soft cloth or rag with water from a sink. Wipe the plastic surface with the damp cloth or rag.
