Wood Tiling Scapbook Ideas

Wood tiles provide an array of options for jazzing up scrapbook pages. Whether you wish to embellish a traditional style scrapbook page or create scrapbook art for hanging in your home, scrapbook tiles make short work of titles, captions and other embellishments. Look for spare Scrabble tiles in craft stores or create your own with photos or small wooden tiles and rubber stamps.
  1. Scrabble Scrapbook

    • For the word lover in your life, create a scrapbook of Scrabble memories. Include snapshots of games played, score cards and an assortment of wooden tiles laid out to spell favorite word plays, names, titles, captions and anything else that pertains to the game. For extra material, host a Scrabble tournament and snap photos throughout night. Include the best shots in your scrapbook, along with a copy of the invitation, the guest list, pages ripped out of a Scrabble dictionary and other paraphernalia.

    Mock Game Board

    • Take a photo of an empty Scrabble board, enlarge it and print it. Place it in the center of your scrapbook page and create a mock game board using an assortment of wooden tiles. Use vintage tiles, Scrabble tiles and homemade wooden tiles stamped with a visually appealing font. Don't limit yourself to letter tiles, if you find a tile or two with pictures on them, incorporate them into your design. Spell out a collection of words on a certain topic or add them randomly.

    Framed Scrapbook Page

    • Make a scrapbook page of your choice and set it aside. Paint a plain wooden frame, found at a craft or hobby store, in a bright color for a backdrop. Use a hot glue gun to glue wooden tiles along the perimeter of the frame. A random assortment of letters can be used or you can spell something clever, pertaining to the content of the scrapbook page. Once dry, put the scrapbook page in the frame. Give the completed project to a friend or loved one for a gift or hang it in your own home.

    Oversize Tiles

    • Create a scrapbook page on an over-size wooden tile for display in your home. Paint the board before you begin. Design a layout and glue it onto card stock as you would a regular scrapbook page. Once satisfied with the overall look of the page, make a copy of the page and cover it with Mod Podge. Once dry, affix the page to the wooden tile and treat it with an epoxy sealant to preserve your design. Whether you choose to create a seasonal piece or something timeless, the finished product can be hung on a wall or displayed standing up.
