Choose fabric for your rag rug. You can recycle old woven cotton garments and bedding or you can purchase colorful cotton print fabric to complement your decor. Wash and shrink all your fabric before getting started.
Tear or cut your fabric along the grain in strips approximately 2 inches wide (about 5 cm). Sew the short ends of the strips together to make one long strip. Roll fabric strips into a ball. Continue attaching and rolling until you have an adequate supply of fabric “yarn.” You can always add more as you go along.
