Lay the braided rug on the floor that you intended it for. Make sure that you clear the room of furniture that may be in the way.
Dampen the braided rug with a wet wash cloth. Allow the braided rug to absorb some of the water that is on the wash cloth. Make sure to dampen the entire rug.
Begin in the middle of the braided rug and place a heavy object in the center of the braided rug. Use the widest object you can find. Try to find an object that would fill as much of the rug as possible.
Place other heavy objects all around the braided rug. Make sure you stretch the braided rug out from the center to remove any wrinkles or curls before placing the object
Leave the heavy objects on the braided rug for at least two days to allow it to take the flat form of the object that you have over it. You may need to keep the weight on the rug for a longer period of time.
Lift up some of the objects and touch the rug to see if the braided rug is still damp. If it is still damp but the braided rug is flat then take a blow dryer or space heater and dry the braided rug.
Place the heavy objects over the braided rug and allow them to stay on the braided rug again over night. This should be the last step. In the morning you should be able to take the objects off the braided rug and your rug will be flat.
