Instructions

    • 1

Cut your fabric into pieces that are approximately two inches wide. The length of these fabric pieces will determine the length or width of your rug.

    • 2

Begin your fabric rug by arranging your fabric strips on a flat surface. They should be spaced two inches apart in succession. You can decide to use as many pieces that you like to increase the length of your fabric rug.

    • 3

Take scotch tape and tape the ends of each piece to your work space. It is important that the pieces don't move around while you are working.

    • 4

Use another piece of fabric to weave over and under through each piece of fabric attached to the table. This will create a basket weave design that will form your rug.

    • 5

Complete your weaving when all four sides of the rug are completely formed with the weaving. You should have created either a square or rectangular shape.

    • 6

Sew the pieces to secure them after all of the pieces are in place. This can either be done by hand or machine. When this is completed, you are ready to display your rug!
