Floor rugs are an easy and popular way to decorate your home. The wide variety of shapes, styles and colors available means that you can find a rug for almost any type of room and decor. With all these style options, it's easy to forget that the original purpose of rugs is to protect the floor and provide a soft, comfortable walking surface. 1
Buy a rug pad. This pad should be approximately the same size and shape as your area rug.
-
2
Trim your rug pad if needed. The pad should stay underneath the rug, and be smaller than the rug on top.

3
Put a few squiggly lines of super glue around the edges of the rug. The glue should not overlap where the rug pad is. This is intended to cover the outer edges where the pad does not reach.
-
4
Allow the glue to dry. The super glue should dry completely to form a rubbery border.
-
5
Lay your rug on top of the rug pad, with the dried rubbery glue on the floor.
