How to Keep a Braided Rug Flat

Braided rugs are both attractive and useful. They lend a rustic feel to your room and are an excellent place to wipe dirty feet when you enter through a front or back door. Over time and with use, however, braided rugs may begin to curl up around the edges. If you have a braided rug that is curling, don't despair. Let some bricks do the heavy lifting for you and rescue your rugs.

Things You'll Need

  • Several heavy bricks
  • Spray bottle filled with water
  • Waxed paper (optional)

Instructions

    • 1

Spray a fine mist of water onto the rug around all of the curled edges. It is not necessary to fully saturate the rug, but do get it damp.

    • 2

Place the bricks on the edges of the braided rug that are curling. Use as many bricks as necessary to make the rug lay flat. If you are concerned that the bricks may get your rug dirty, place a sheet of waxed paper in between.

    • 3

Allow the rug to dry with the bricks holding it flat, then remove the bricks.

    • 4

Repeat this procedure whenever your braided rugs begin curling.
