How to Keep an Area Rug From Sliding

Area rugs make a nice addition to the décor of a room and can boast many benefits beyond aesthetics.
They can make the floor warmer so as not to have to walk on cold floors. They can help to protect your floors, or provide a softer place for kids to play. They are also a cheaper alternative to wall-to-wall carpeting. Keeping an area rug from sliding is an easy task and can help avoid unnecessary slips and falls or having a wrinkled rug.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the rug by rolling it up and setting it aside in a safe, dry place.

    • 2

Sweep the area well to remove any dirt or debris.

    • 3

Unroll the rug and turn it upside down so the backing is facing up.

    • 4

Attach an appropriate-sized strip of double-sided tape to the length of the top and bottom of the rug.

    • 5

Carefully turn over the rug and set it in the desired location.

    • 6

Press down the taped ends by walking across them to stick them firmly in place. Be sure that the rug is completely straightened out or it will stick in place with wrinkles in it.
