Choose rugs that will complement the color of your room. You may use a rug that has a similar color palate, or even a rug that can be used as an accent piece. If you have a bold color room, choose a lighter rug to keep the area open and airy. Lighter wall paint and trim in rooms become cozy and warm when paired with darker Persian rugs.
Determine if you want the rug to be a focal point of a room. If you do, a rug that has a centralized design woven in will create an eye-catching piece of decor.
Add more than one rug if you have a large room. For example, you can place a Persian rug under the coffee table and a smaller rug at the room entry point. The patterns don't have to be the same if you are looking for a contrast, but you should keep the colors coordinated to prevent it from looking too busy.
Place a long Persian rug runner down the hallway to add color to an otherwise drab section of the house. If you have hardwood or tile flooring, a Persian rug will be more comfortable to walk on than bare wood.
Decorate a large bathroom with a small runner-style rug. This style of Persian rug would best be used in front of a double vanity or sink.
Place smaller Persian rugs on either side of your bed on hardwood flooring, to enhance comfort and provide warmth in cold months when you step out of bed.
Create art with your Persian rugs. A runner can be converted into wall art by simply hanging the rug off wooden or metal rods; display hanging Persian rugs around the home for a warm and colorful look.
