Do-It-Yourself Painted Kid's Rug

Spread the theme throughout the room from your child's walls to the floor. Instructions

    • 1

Apply painter’s tape around the rug’s border at a desired distance from the edge. Apply a second line of tape around to mark off an area for a painted border. Make the border as simple or as creative as you like with a single band or multiple bands.

    • 2

Pour the paint onto the plate and sparingly brush the paint on the sponge stamps. Press the stamps onto the rug where desired. Choose colors and shapes to coordinate with the room décor. Lift the stamp off the rug and apply more paint as needed to continue adding painted shapes to the rug.

    • 3

Add the border color paint to a new plate and roll the paint roller through the paint. Starting at one rug corner, roll the paint onto the rug in the area marked off by the tape. Continue to apply more paint as needed until the border is complete.

Allow the paint to dry 2 to 3 days before letting your child use their newly painted rug.
