Capel Rugs Vs. Feizy Rugs

Capel Rugs and Feizy Rugs are two very different companies. Both companies have made significant impacts on American rug-making and sales. Capel Rugs is older; it was established in 1917, while Feizy Rugs was established during the mid 1970s. They also have very different philosophies: Capel was founded with the pretense that every family, no matter what their income, should be able to afford high-quality rugs, while Feizy manufactures and sells high-end floor coverings.
  1. Leon Capel Sr.

    • Capel Rugs is so big in the rug business that a rug has been named after them---the braided, oval, multi-colored area rugs that are in practically every home in the United States. These days, most rug companies sell capel rugs, which A. Leon Capel Sr. developed to make attractive and unique rugs a possibility for every American family. Capel was the first to produce braids in rug-making, a style that has been duplicated by scores of rug makers.

    Capel History

    • In the early 1900s, Leon Capel owned a company that produced plow lines used to steer horses or mules in the fields. After the introduction of the tractor, this technology became obsolete, so Capel found a new use for his raw materials. He fashioned them into a continuous yarn, braided them and manufactured the world's first continuous yard-braided rug. Almost 100 later and three generations of a family-run and family-owned business, Capel Rugs is one of the most prominent rug manufacturers and sellers in America.

    John Feizy

    • John Feizy founded Feizy Rugs in the mid 70s, starting with a small retail rug store in Dallas, Texas. His family had been in the rugs business for four generations---buying, selling and collecting Oriental rugs. Feizy's goal was to expose more people to these beautiful rugs, and to help them incorporate them in everyday living spaces. Before long, he had a loyal clientele of interior designers, and his company became one of the most well-known manufacturers and innovators of fine rugs in the world.

    Feizy Philosophy

    • Feizy Rugs' core philosophy is that innovative design, rich texture and attention to detail should be the foundation of every room, and that commitment to high-quality influences its business standards as well. Its commitment to producing and selling Oriental rugs has, as it puts it, "preserved the legacy of a vanishing world," but they continue to make advances and set new trends in the world of rug-making and rug selling. In other words, Feizy designs, manufactures and sells trend-setting rugs while delivering high-quality rugs woven by experts in traditional designs.

    Significance

    • Both companies have an important place and influence in the rug-making and rug-selling world, in two very different ways. Capel makes floor coverings accessible, while Feizy is for more high-end tastes and preferences, and both have a place in the market.
