How Do I Design With Design Zone Carpet Tile?

Design Zone carpet tiles are available at most large home improvement centers. The squares are normally 12 inches by 12 inches and come in a wide variety of colors and textures. Even though most people would purchase the tiles and lay them to all look the same, Design Zone carpet tiles can be designed with a mosaic look or any type of pattern that will complement the rest of your home. Design Zone carpet tiles give you a chance to be creative and unique.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the floor area of the room on all four sides. Measure any odd angles or nooks.

    • 2

Draw on a piece of graph paper the dimensions of the room with each graph square equaling one foot.

    • 3

Select the number of colors you plan to use, and pencil in a pattern on the graph paper with colored pencils. Each pencil color will be a different carpet tile.

    • 4

Make a key at the bottom of your graph paper where each square of Design Zone carpet tile equals a certain colored pencil marking so you can remember what each square represents.

    • 5

Purchase enough Design Zone carpet tiles in each color to replicate the pattern on your graph paper. Allow for any extra space that may not be exactly 12 inches or one foot. Plan to cut this tile before you glue it to the floor.
