Calculating the size of a rug requires basic elementary math skills and only a few moments to complete.   Place the tape measure at one corner of the rug and pull the tape measure out along the length of the rug. Write down the number of inches the tape measure shows and divide it by 12.

  Multiply the numbers from Step 1 and Step 2. The answer is the total square footage of the rug.
