Carpet Ideas for Kids

Carpets easily give children bedrooms and playrooms a comfortable feeling, but there are so many types of carpets to choose from. Carpets and rugs do not have to be dull if you want to go all out with your child's room. Choosing the right type of carpet is important because it is not easy to replace, and children spend a significant amount of time in their rooms and on the floor. A carpet can make or break a room for a child.
  1. Educational Carpet Themes

    • Several rug designs are not sold as carpets. Some carpet companies have carpet designs with maps or charts on them. Some offer a carpet with the map of the United States, outlining the states lines and highlighting the capital cities. The image is tasteful and helps students remember their state capitols. Or, for science buffs, parents can find a carpet with the Periodic table.

    Carpets for Playing

    • Several cleverly designed carpets allow kids to play on and with the carpet, so it's never boring. These designs are layouts of towns, mazes and streets. Kids can place themselves in the image on the carpet and use the design to set up their playing. Children can spend hours playing like this. Some designs have snakes and ladders game board set-up, checkers and chess sets.

    Soft Carpets

    • Soft carpets are especially important for younger children, as they are prone to falling on the ground while they learn to walk. The softer the carpet during this stage of development, the better. Soft carpets can be made from soft wools and cotton. If choosing a solid color, choose a darker color, so less dirt shows. This is helpful for busy new parents, or for those prone to unexpected visitors.

    Favorite Character Carpets

    • Several carpet designs of favorite cartoon or book characters can also liven a room. For example; Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants are two well known cartoon characters featured on kids' carpets and rugs. This is a useful idea character theme room.
