How to Get Rid of Bathroom Rug Stains

Bathroom rugs work as both practical safety devices and as decorative objects. They help prevent us from slipping when leaving the shower, but they can also pull the room together, helping to give it a uniform theme. One theme you don't want to present, however, is a theme of messiness. A stained bathroom rug can give the wrong impression to your house guests. Fortunately, most bathroom rugs are machine washable, and the stains can be removed fairly easily.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a solution made from 1 oz. of liquid laundry detergent, 1 oz. of white vinegar and 10 oz. of water.

    • 2

Pour some of the solution onto the stain. Tap the area repeatedly with a cleaning brush.

    • 3

Let the solution soak for 10 to 15 minutes.

    • 4

Put the rug in your washing machine, along with laundry detergent. Set the washer to a large load setting. This will ensure that the rug becomes completely submerged during the wash. Do not put anything else in the washer with the rug.

Air-dry the rug when it has finished washing. If the stains are still visible, repeat the process until they're gone.
