How to Decorate With Persian Carpets

It's important to match the carpet to the other decor in the room, however. Decorating with Persian carpets is not difficult, but you will achieve a better look by following some simple guidelines.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the areas where you wish to place the carpet. This is to ensure that you buy the proper size for the room. These carpets come in numerous sizes and shapes. Most are rectangular, but you can also find round and oval Persian carpets.

    • 2

Purchase nonskid carpet pads for each carpet. These pads keep the carpets from sliding and bunching on the floor.

    • 3

Choose carpets with colors that enhance your furnishings. For example, if you have a brown leather sofa, a carpet with some brown in the design will complement the sofa.

    • 4

Keep other decor patterns simple. Persian carpets with many colors and intricate details can make a room look too busy if you have elaborately patterned draperies or multicolored upholstery. Also avoid mismatching styles --- don't, for example, place a Persian rug in a room with a colorful plaid sofa. Solid-color furniture looks better with Persian carpets.

Place the nonskid pads on the floor and set the carpets on them. Stand back to get a full view of the carpets to make sure they are placed correctly and not askew.
