How to Display Blankets & Throws

Displaying blankets and throws is a charming way to fully maximize the beauty of your collections. Many products are available to hang and display blankets. Quilt stands with bases or wall-mounted models are excellent display options. Fold and stack blankets and throws on top of a vintage chest or on a hall table. Mount blankets and throws directly onto the walls--as you would with a tapestry.

Instructions

  1. Racks

    • 1

Place a quilt rack in a low-traffic area of your house such as next to a couch or end table.

    • 2

Fold the blankets over the rods provided on the rack. Most racks hold two to four blankets. Large, tall racks may hold six or more folded blankets for display.

    • 3

Place several quilt racks around the house if you have many blankets to display.

    Chests and Tables

    • 4

Fold and stack several blankets and throws on top of a chest, trunk or table.

    • 5

Organize according to color or mix them for a rainbow effect. Place two or three stacks--depending on the length of your chest or table--side by side. Don’t cram the blankets together. Place your favorites on top of the pile for more visibility.

    • 6

Rotate the blankets so the top--more visible--blanket changes often and to avoid dust accumulation from leaving the blankets undisturbed for long periods of time.

    Hanging Displays

    • 7

Use a hammer to tap small tacks or picture nails to secure the top edge of the blanket or throw to the wall.

    • 8

Hammer extra small nails around a blanket or throw to keep it from snagging or tearing. Don’t nail or tack an extremely valuable blanket or throw to a wall as there will be small holes in the fabric.

    • 9

Remove the blanket for periodic washing--such as every six months--to avoid dust accumulation and material rot.
