How to Get a Tufted Look in a Bedspread

Bedspreads not only are a great way to stay warm and comfortable, but they also add decoration to a room. Unfortunately, ornate comforters can be expensive to buy in stores or online. However, you can make your own comforter and make it as detailed as you would like it to be. Or, you can buy a simple comforter and add tufts and other details to it. Tufting fabric is a simple way to add detail to a comforter.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a grid of pencil dots on the top layer of the comforter. Space the dots every six inches.

    • 2

Thread the needle and insert it into the first pencil mark. Bring the needle and thread through all layers of the comforter, leaving a 4-inch tail of thread at the end.

    • 3

Bring the needle and thread back up through all the layers of the fabric, staying on the pencil dot. Cut the thread, leaving another 4-inch tail of thread.

    • 4

Tie the 4-inch thread tails together tightly and repeat the same process for all of the pencil dots on the comforter.
