Euro shams are pillow covers designed for European-sized pillows and are generally square rather than rectangular. These pillows are typically used as decorations on couches and beds instead of for sleeping on. Pillows are inserted through an opening on the back of the sham, rather than being inserted into one open end as with normal pillowcases.

Standard Euro sham dimensions are 26 by 26 inches, though some retailers stock Euro shams that are slightly oversized at 30 by 30 inches. American stores tend to stock the smaller version, while European stores sell the larger ones.
