How to Keep a Duvet Insert in Place

A duvet serves two very important purposes. It protects comforters, which are often expensive) from normal wear and staining; and enables you to change the style in your bedroom in a relatively inexpensive way. A duvet is similar to a large pillow case that has enclosures, such as buttons or snaps, on one end. The comforter can slide around inside the duvet, so special clips are used to keep it in place.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the duvet cover inside out and lay it across the bed, with the opening at the foot of the bed. The opening is actually the bottom of the duvet cover. Lay the comforter over the duvet cover so that the corners match up.

Attach the clips to the comforter and the inside of the duvet at each corner.

    • 3

Reach inside the opening toward the top of the comforter and duvet, and grasp a corner. Pull this corner down and through the opening; you are now turning the duvet cover right-side out. After you have pulled this first corner through, reach inside and grasp the other upper corner and do the same thing.

Grab the two pulled through corners and pull them out to the end of the bed. Hold onto each of these corners and then "snap" the duvet, as if you were snapping a tablecloth across a table. The duvet clips on the inside will keep the comforter in place and it should spread out evenly. The opening of the duvet should be at the top of the bed.

Turn the duvet around so it is at the bottom of the bed and close it by whatever means the duvet utilizes (e.g. buttons, snaps or zipper). Spread out the duvet neatly across the bed.
