Sunbeam Electric Blanket Directions

Electric blankets operate by heating a wire, which runs through the fabric of the blanket. Some of Sunbeam's blankets have two controllers for the two halves of the blanket, allowing a couple to customize their personal warmth level. Other electric blankets have a single controller, but both types operate in a similar manner.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay your blanket flat on the bed with the plastic socket(s) facing up at the foot of the bed.

    • 2

Insert the plug from the controller into the socket, and push it until you hear it click into place. The controller attached to the cord will control the side of the blanket it is plugged into, if your blanket has more than one controller.

    • 3

Place the controller on the same side of the bed as the half of the blanket it controls.

    • 4

Plug both controllers into an electrical outlet.

    • 5

Press the "On/Off" button and then push the "Preheat" button on blankets with this feature. This feature will heat the blanket for 30 minutes, regardless of the temperature setting on the control. After 30 minutes, it will change its heating to match the control setting.

    • 6

Press the buttons to increase or decrease the heat setting. Most Sunbeam blankets have 10 settings with the exception of the "Choice Plus," which has 20 -- and the throw blankets which only have three settings.

    • 7

Push the "On/Off" button to turn the blanket's warming off. After 10 hours, all electric blankets will automatically shut off, except for the Easy Set model, which does not have this feature. Only the Slim Style AO throw will shut itself off after three hours, the Slim Style throw must be manually turned off.
