How to Design Your Own Baby Comforter

Decide what you want your comforter made out of. Choose your fabrics like cotton, sateen, polyester or another type of fabric. Also choose the dimensions of the comforter and what you want it stuffed with.

Decide the pattern and look of your comforter. You could get it made in colors that suit the nursery, or you could do something with the baby's name to make it a personalized item. You could also put something fanciful, like a dragon, a unicorn or other mythical creature on it like a tapestry. You could add ruffled edges or keep them simple, make the blanket multi-colored or make it a simple monochrome. Don't be afraid to experiment.

Draw out a picture of the comforter you'd like. Try several different designs until you really find one that you're satisfied with. For instance, a fluffy comforter with ruffles might be one option, or a thinner comforter done in a quilted pattern might be more what you really want to get made. Let your creativity flow, but pare down your ideas to a single design.

Get your design made. If you are craft-inclined then you could sew the comforter yourself by following the design you drew up. If not, there are places that offer options for making custom designed bedding.
