How to Use a Duvet Cover As a Blanket

Duvets, a type of comforter often filled with goose down or natural or synthetic fills, are versatile and come in different "tog" ratings, depending on how warm you want your blanket to be. Tthe lower the tog rating, the less heat the duvet will provide. Duvets come in white casings with pockets sewn into it to keep the contents evenly dispersed. Although duvets can be thrown on your bed and used as a normal blanket, many people prefer to insert the duvet into a slipcover to protect the white exterior of the blanket.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the duvet cover inside out by reaching inside, grabbing the corners and pulling them inside out. Flatten your duvet onto the bed so it is easy to locate and grasp by the corners.

    • 2

Place your hands inside the cover at the two furthest corners.

    • 3

Pull the corners into the cover. As you pull the corners inside, pull the duvet cover on top of the comforter so the duvet is inside. Shake the blanket to help with this process.

    • 4

Pull the two bottom corners inside the duvet and hold the duvet by its top two corners. Shake out the duvet so it is evenly dispersed inside the cover.

    • 5

Zip up the bottom of the cover or do up the buttons. The duvet is now ready to be used as a blanket for your bed, or you can curl up with it on the couch.
