How to Drape a Blanket on a Couch

A blanket serves double duty on your living room couch. Having a blanket close by fends off a chilly night, but it also can be an attractive accessory. Keep in mind the pillows and other accent colors when it’s time to select a blanket that will be seen daily on the sofa. A little artful arranging of the blanket gives the perception that it’s meant to be part of the sofa.

  Fold the blanket lengthwise in half or thirds, depending on the overall size of the blanket. Spread the length of the blanket neatly over the back of the sofa and arrange so equal amounts drape over the back and front of the couch.

  Fold the blanket in half and spread across the couch back. Tuck the front of the blanket behind the sofa cushions and place decorative pillows on the cushions.

  Grasp the center of a small blanket and give the blanket a shake. While holding the center of the blanket, place the center over the back of one end of the couch. Spread the remaining bulk of the blanket casually down the front of the sofa and across the cushion.
