How to Fix Feathers Shifting in a Bedspread

As a bedspread that contains down feathers is used, the feathers will shift and move inside the fabric layers. While some bedspreads have baffles sewn across them to keep feathers distributed evenly, other bedspreads may not include this design feature. Fix feathers shifting in a bedspread by moving them to where you want them inside the fabric layers.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the bedspread from the bed.

    • 2

Grasp one edge of the bedspread firmly in both hands. Ask a helper to grasp the opposite edge of the bedspread in a similar fashion.

    • 3

Shake the bedspread while you both hold it firmly. Continue shaking the bedspread to evenly redistribute the feathers.

    • 4

Put down the bedspread and shift your grasp to a perpendicular edge. Ask your helper to move his grasp to a perpendicular edge also so that you are both holding opposite edges of the bedspread again.

    • 5

Shake the bedspread again to continue shifting the feathers.

    • 6

Put down the bedspread and assess the feathers inside the fabric. If feathers still bunch in any specific areas, push the feathers by hand to move them. Continue redistributing the feathers until the appearance of the bedspread is satisfactory.
