Replacement Tips for the Wooster Sherlock Extension Pole

Wooster Brush Company manufactures paint brushes, rollers and accessories for the professional painter. Its line of fiberglass Sherlock extension poles give painters extra reach when a section of wall is just beyond their grasp. The Sherlock poles are available in lengths from the 1- to 2-foot, up to the 6- to 12-foot extendable model. Made from heavy duty fiberglass with a positive, spring loaded locking system, the Sherlock poles offer years of reliable service for painting pros.
  1. The Threaded End

    • The only part of the Sherlock poles which may require replacement from excessive wear is the threaded top. The fiberglass-reinforced threaded tip threads into a paint roller, and experiences high levels of torque when the pole is used. If these ends become worn or broken, the painter can remove the end and replace it with a new one, available from paint stores which stock the Wooster product line.

    The Bayonet End

    • Sherlock poles are adaptable to a quick change, bayonet end. With this fitting, the painter can click-connect new tools on and off the pole with the simple flip of a spring-loaded lever. To install this time-saving option, the painter removes the threaded end piece, and installs a bayonet mount end into the pole.

    Quick Disconnect Adapter

    • Used with the bayonet adapter, the quick disconnect adapter threads into the end of the painter's roller frames and remains permanently in the hand tool. By outfitting each tool with a quick disconnect end, the painter can easily exchange one tool for another. The point at which a roller handle is likely to loosen from the extension pole is this threaded fitting. To prevent this from happening, the threaded adapters can be caulked or glued into the roller handle. In this case, the roller never loosens in the middle of a painting job.

    Brush Holder

    • Wooster also makes an adapter that threads onto an extension pole, and holds a traditional brush. The bright yellow poly-vinyl adapter clamps down on the brush, and allows the painter to reach small wall areas or painted trim beyond his grasp. The adapter is adjustable, and the painter can orient the brush to just the right angle to paint the wall while standing safely on the ground.
