Decorating with a bumble bee theme gives you the chance to introduce brown and yellow into your child's bedroom in a number of ways. You can paint a mural on the wall of yellow and brown striped bumble bees. Include a yellow honey bee hive in the mural or on one of the doors in the room. Paint ceramic pots to look like bumble bees or the hives and place them on shelves for your child to store crayons, pencils and other craft supplies in.
Painting your child's room with a giraffe motif allows you to incorporate the colors of yellow and brown into your kid's bedroom. Paint all the walls yellow, and then create a focal wall by painting brown giraffe spots on it. Add the spots to the bed posts and chair legs as well. Use fabric paint and stencils to paint giraffes on the curtains, bedspread and pillow shams.
Sunflowers work well in a child's room in which you've decided to embrace a country motif. These brown and yellow flowers can inform the entire decorating process of the room you're painting for your child. Begin by painting the walls a deep sunflower yellow. Add brown paint to the trim areas such as the window sills and door frames. Paint sunflowers on the bed's head and foot boards as well as on the drawers, a rocking chair in the room or on the closet doors. Create a sunflower border at the top of the walls near the ceiling by painting sunflowers and vines all along that area of the wall. Use a stencil pattern if you don't feel you can paint the sunflowers free-hand.
There are a number of reasons why you might want to paint a child's bedroom with gender-neutral colors. If you are an expectant parent and have decided to wait until your child is born to find out the gender, you'll choose these types of colors. You might also choose gender-neutral colors when you have boy and girl toddlers sharing a bedroom. In these cases, brown and yellow are colors that would work well. For the baby's room, choose light shades of brown and yellow, and for the boy/girl toddler pair, paint the walls a vibrant yellow and accent with a deeper brown.
