Fun and Easy Painting Ideas for Teen Bedrooms

Designs, theme elements and other decor can make a teen's room pop. You may be hesitant to take on a decorating project of this sort because of the time and work involved. But you have options that aren't very hard at all. Ask your teen to join in, and make this a fun afternoon for both of you.
  1. Simple Painted Designs

    • Feature simple designs in your teen's room, such as stars, planets or hearts. Use whatever you choose on one wall or as a border around the room. Use any color, such as pink, purple, blue or green. To make the look even more engaging, apply a thin coat of glow-in-the dark paint over the designs. The glow paint will have a translucent look during the day. At night, your designs will glow.

    Flowers with Glitter Elements

    • It's easy to create flower shapes, and they often appeal to teens. Stick with one kind of flower, or pick several. Using stencils or doing them freehand, create a painted flower border, or scatter flowers all over the walls. If your teen loves sparkle, wait for the paint to dry, spray on a little glue and add glitter to each flower.

    Sponge-Paint Designs

    • Create sponge-painted designs that appeal to your teen. This idea doesn't take much work, because it only involves dipping the sponge in various colors and then making an impression on the wall. However, not all designs work for teens, because many sponges feature shapes for young children. Ask your teen what type of designs he likes, and then buy sponges in shapes that appeal to him. Geometric shapes might work well in a boy's room.

    Accent Walls

    • Accent walls feature one main color that stands out from the rest of the walls. If your teen likes the color of her bedroom, choose a complementary or coordinating color and paint just one wall. Or go with a bold color, such as lime green or hot pink. Painting just one wall makes the project much simpler than painting all four walls.
