How to Get Wall Clings to Stick on Textured Walls?

Wall clings add visual interest and color to nurseries and children’s rooms without the mess and trouble of paint and stencils. You can use dozens of colorful clings to decorate your room in a polka-dot pattern or add one or two clings depicting favorite cartoon or literary characters. Large wall clings with minimal detail will adhere to lightly textured walls with a bit of preparation.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash the area on the wall where you want to apply the wall cling, using a sponge and soapy water. This will remove dirt and grease that could prevent the decal from adhering properly. Rinse off the soapy water and allow the section of the wall to dry thoroughly.

    • 2

Sand the target area of the wall with 100-grit sandpaper to even out the surface and promote adhesion. Wipe away sanding dust with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.

Peel off the wall cling’s adhesive backing and stick it to the prepared area of the wall. Smooth out the wall cling with your fingers to remove any bubbles and wrinkles.
