How to Make Enamel Paint Dry Fast

Completing a paint job takes time and patience. The process is prolonged by the time required for each coat of paint to dry. Enamel paint is a tough, durable choice for rooms with walls that get touched often, and it dries faster than non-enamel paints. But if you’re on a tight deadline and need to make your enamel paint dry even faster, there are a few ways to speed up the process.

Things You'll Need

  • Enamel paint
  • Paint rollers or paintbrushes
  • Oscillating room fans

Instructions

    • 1

Begin painting only if it's not overly humid or cold in your house. Temperatures below 60 degrees Fahrenheit or high humidity levels slow down the drying process.

    • 2

Apply a thin layer of room-temperature enamel paint onto the surface(s) you are painting. Make sure the paint is not cold, as this slows down the drying process. Avoid painting so thick that paint drips down the wall or other surface, as thick paint layers increase drying time.

    • 3

Set up large, oscillating room fans -- directed toward the area(s) you painted -- to shorten the drying time. The more moving air that blows on the fresh enamel paint, the faster it will dry.
