Measure the width of the pillows you want to hang as a headboard and add 8 inches.
Mount a decorative curtain rod over the back of the bed. The more chunky and ornamental the rod is, the better it will look. Look for cool rods at garage sales and in the attic. Position the curtain rod so that it is centered and level. Screw the brackets into the wall using screws and a screwdriver.
Cut ribbons three times the width of the pillows. Wrap two ribbons around the width of each pillow. Space each ribbon 6 inches from the nearest side. Make sure both ends of the ribbon are even, and tie a knot in the ends just above the top of the pillow. Repeat on each side. Loop the ribbons over the curtain rod and raise the pillow 4 inches off the top of the mattress. Tie the ribbons above the rod.
Use belts, strings of beads, costume jewelry, jute, raffia or any type of material you have on hand that will enclose the pillows and match your bedroom theme.
